William D. Brownback, AIA, Named Director at Phillips Partnership
ATLANTA—William D. Brownback, AIA has been hired as a Director in the Multi-Family Design Studio at Phillips. In this role, he will
lead the development of an additional studio to complement Phillips’ existing Multi-Family Design Studio with his area of expertise being
wood frame apartment structures of all styles (garden, wrap, podium).
Phillips, an Atlanta-based architectural and engineering firm, provides full architectural and engineering services for the multi-family,
retail and hospitality markets.
“Will has broad, multi-family experience and a deep knowledge of architecture, design and planning,” said Jerry Phillips, President of
Phillips. “As a Director in our Multi-Family Design Studio, Will will focus on not only extending our reach into the residential design
market, but will act as a teacher and mentor for the staff. Will’s years of experience, knowledge and leadership in the multi-family
industry further enhances Phillips’ capabilities in this critical market segment. This is without doubt a great moment for the entire
Brownback brings more than 35 years of expertise acquired during a successful career in architecture, design and planning, and has a
passion for multi-family architecture. Most recently, he was a Principal with Lord Aeck Sargent (LAS), and headed the firm’s metro
Washington D.C. office. In this role, Brownback was responsible for the day-to-day operation of this branch office.
Prior to this Brownback was Principal-in-Charge of The Preston Partnership’s Washington D.C. office, which he founded in 2004. In his
role as founding principal, Brownback opened the company’s first branch office, and grew the staff to 85 from the ground up.
Brownback has a proven track record of maintaining long-standing customer relationships, establishing new multi-family contacts, and
successfully building and managing teams around multiple projects.
Brownback holds bachelor’s degrees in architecture and environmental design from Auburn University. He is currently a member of the
American Institute of Architects and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
Brownback has relocated to Atlanta, GA for his role with Phillips.
